Local SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) and Directory listings Video.
I have made a short video which sets out the reasons why many businesses fail to get the full benefit from Local SEO (search engine optimisation).Google and the other large search engines such as Yahoo and Bing look to their own plus the other directories such as Yelp, hotfrog, patch, manta, Pintrest and the other up to 53 directories which aggregate information for businesses in the USA.
The above directories correlate information such as reviews, business photographs and primarily the NAP or Name Address and Phone number or each local business. The NAP is of major importance as in the case of Google and Yahoo, en et al. This information is used to establish the legitimacy of the business and reflects in the Geo search allocation on the SERP’s.
It is very unlikely that a business that has neglected to register with the majority of the 53 directories that Google consults to confirm its information.. Wikipedia has the following to say on Local search engine rankings……….
“Major search engines have algorithms that determine which local businesses rank in local search. Primary factors that impact a local business’s chance of appearing in local search are proper categorization in business directories, a business’s Name, Address, and Phone Number (NAP) being crawlable on the website, and citations (mentions of the small business on other relevant websites like a chamber of commerce website)” Article HERE
Updating and maintaining consistency of information for all 53 local directories in exactly the manor that they require can of course be a daunting task. After all you have a business to run and your time would be most productively taken up servicing your clients. However when we look at the marketing results that can attained for the business by featuring on the fist page of Google SERP’s for lucrative keyword that pertain to your line of business can bring in a flood of FREE traffic to your web pages.
We can see from the above that Geo search or Google maps ranking can mean the difference between paying large amount in Pay Per Click cost each month, or benefitting from free traffic from the search engines, and with according to Social times……..
